We are a 501(c)(3) national non-profit, dedicated to changing the environment in which kids learn as they learn to save the environment in which they live. Specifically, we “greenovate” school lunchrooms, change behavior, and provide eco awareness in underserved communities. These communities are the last to incorporate eco education and environmental building retrofitting due to lack of funds and resources. We hope to literally change the planet…starting with lunchrooms!

Gioia Bearden, Co-Founder Planet Lunchroom, Inc, is a native of Chicago, Illinois. Bearden worked in the entertainment industry for the past twenty years as a Development Executive, Set Decorator and for the Directors Guild of America. Bearden has been instrumental in the development of films with studios such as: Columbia Pictures, 20th Century Fox, HBO Film and New Line Cinema. Prior to working in development, Bearden’s creative career began at J. Walter Thompson USA, Chicago where she was a commercial editor. Seeking a way to marry her creative talents with her strong desire to impact the environment, her creative partnership with Co-Founder Kim Fluellen led to the launch of Planet Lunchroom. Bearden is an active member of Valley Green Builders Task Force. Bearden received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois and currently resides in Los Angeles, California with her husband and three children. We want communities to come together to create change.
